Sugar Rush

At last year's Artomatic, I discovered the joys of the marshmallow peep diorama, courtsey of the Washington Post's annual contest. I vowed to enter at the next opportunity, spent 10 long months waiting for Easter to roll around, and when Peeps Show III was announced on March 1, I got to work. Inspired by the documentary Man on Wire, this is the end result:

The competition was stiff (1100 entries, including another Peep on Wire!), but I made the semi-finals. Check out this year's top 40 peeps at the Washington Post. Click on the link at the top that says "Peeple's Choice" to vote for MY Peep on Wire (#21).

And if you still haven't had enough gooey sweetness, it's time for some Peep Jousting.

DC Spring

No new art today, but I did get to commune with the cherry blossoms and magnolias today at the National Arboretum in Northeast DC. Hopefully these will provide fodder for future watercolors.

My favorite quote of the day (from a placard at the Arboretum): "It isn't polite to brag about your background unless you're a plant cultivar." I know one other person who would find this statement as amusing as I do.
